Restory ~ The Story Behind The Design

I have a special friend who has been a part of my family's life for many years. My husband is a worship leader and travels all around the world singing in many different settings and when our children were younger many of the roads trips included listing to cassettes (okay I know that ages me) to our favorite "Story Lady", Melea Brock.
Melea Brock She is a story-teller at Right-Side-Up Stories

With the advance of social networking I have reconnected with her and now my children are older and do not listen to cassettes in the car but I have the cd's ready for when I do have grandchildren. She found my FaceBook page and discovered I create jewelry. As an artist herself she commissioned me to create a piece of jewelry for her. Her instructions were simple, "Just do what you do!" Then my questions began, " Did you have any color idea? chain, beads or both? I am still meditating about your idea...
Do you have a word that you are thinking of? I have not tried stamping...but that gives me some ideas.."
She replies, "Story" is an obvious one... but let me think.
I love symbols too--key, lock, heart, book, sheep,..."
This goes on for about 3 months...you get the idea.
Well, I sent her pictures of my design process:
Phase 1

I gathered all of my bold colored gemstones and sterling silver chain and unique Bali handmade sterling beads. She had sent me some of her sentimental sterling charms and I added some I thought would have special meaning...

Phase 2

Worked out the spacing and added the sterling silver chain....

Finished Product

This is what Melea had to say about what the word, Restory means to her.

This word RESTORY is dear to me... as a storyteller and author. The word had deep meaning for me as a follower of Jesus... for He has taken what is refuse, death, pains and wounds, disappointment (and more) and restory-ed me with His magnificent breath-taking Story. His pages laid across the pages of my life... I have come to understand His exquisite Pen with its permanent ink versus my feeble dull-pointed squat of a pencil, with eraser worn down to a numb... He is the Author of Life... mine and yours. Melea J. Brock

Getting Ready For Prom

I have five daughters and a closet full of prom dresses. It is so exciting to do the shopping, find the right hairdo, and get the perfect jewelry for the big night. Here are some pictures of my daughter, Raina with her really handsome, tall date.

The blue dress on Raina was found at the Goodwill for $7. Glad retro is in style. The other dress, well I won't say the price, but Galen looked stunning!

This one is Raina picking out her beads for her dress! Love her expression.

I have created many earrings, necklaces, bracelets and more through the years. It is so easy to personalize each design to suit my daughter's different tastes.
Check out my chandelier earrings for a stunning statement or to keep it simple how about just a simple pearl earring or triple crystal drop earrings. The necklace can be simple as a strand of beaded Swarovski crystals or how about a stunning statement artisan style for the brave at heart. Stacking many stretchy crystal bracelets which are easy to wear and mix or match. Don't forget about the perfect matching cha-cha Swarovski crystal ring. Perfect bling and sparkle for the special night!

MP Designs Jewelry Studio Pictures

Some of you may want to see how my jewelry design studio has evolved so I thought I would share some pictures.
The curtains I made myself with two different kinds of embroidered taffeta. I was able to find the supplies and use coupons and create the entire window treatment for $100. I was so happy! I love to surround myself with pretty things and my family...thus the pictures and photographic art from my garden which my talented daughter, Raina took. I think she has real talent as well! My son-in-law, Shaun Thompson built my room and created this great pegboard for me to use for display as well as storage. My husband bought my the rolling kitchen cart/island and it works great to hold my beads and supplies. I hope you enjoy and I would love to hear what you think of it!

These are a few of my new pieces...enjoy!
The front of our home the first snow fall...we got another foot a week later...
Our horse started to eat our shrubs and hedges...so we had to get some bales of hay..they are happy now but I have to find another way to trim the hedges...
Dennis on the tractor clearing the drive...

My twin boys mastering the snow shovel..this is on our back deck...
Galen enjoying her time with our dogs...
We even added a bird feeder to enjoy the cardinals and other birds...

Well, the snow has stopped and the thaw has begun but this record breaking snowfall and winter temperatures will not be missed. I have been busy in my jewelry studio filling orders and making new pieces. Glad my studio is just a quick walk from our home.
